Startups, learn from MS Dhoni

Last week, India was playing Sri Lanka in the final of the cricket tri-series in West Indies. When the last over came, it was sheer magic on screen. Our cricket team captain, MS Dhoni displayed his expertise — 6, 4, 6 — and the game was over. India won, players jumped with joy but Dhoni just smiled. Here is what startups can learn from him.

Keep smiling

You come across diverse situations, and not all are favourable. Showing negative emotions to partners, competitors or customers can hurt. Make sure to keep smiling.

Be calm

Have you seen Dhoni after winning a match — he collects the stump as a souvenir and is calm about the whole situation. It is the same even when India loses a match. So next time you win or lose a contract, be calm and remember the person who carries the burden of hopes of a billion Indians.

Take calculated risks

An entrepreneur takes as much risks as he or she can, but they are calculated. Dhoni did not take unwanted singles, even when pressure was mounting and the required run rate was climbing. The risk of less balls to score more runs is lower than exposing your team’s 10th and 11th batsmen, who cannot defend their wickets. As a startup, you will face tremendous uncertainty about your decisions, and may not have enough data to base your decisions on. Only your gut feelings and calculated risks can help you move forward.

Believe

The first step of doing anything is believing you can do it. In the finals, Dhoni waited till the last over to finish it off, and the look on his face showed he believed he could do it. Do not even once doubt and think you will fail. Being an entrepreneur is like being a captain, you get to play as well as lead!

NURTURE TALENT ACADEMY

1.JULY.2013

Its 1st of  july, we have done with one month in Nurture Talent as interns and it seems like we have been a part of it from years. Feels good. All the credits goes to Amit and Ishank sir, ‘the charm of this company’, Aakanksha and Jayant, who always brought a smile on our faces whenever we have left with no energy towards work, and as obvious my co-interns. With the help of whom, we were able to live the moment of  Nothing is Impossible. Have never seen such a comfortable environment to work which is provided to us by them only, here, in NURTURE TALENT.
On the first day, when I felt like how will I manage to do such a big task, at that time these people built up the confdence inside me and somehow I dare to do the job assigned to me with a lot of ease. For this one month, I’ve lived a moment of proud at the end of each day at Nurture Talent, that yes, I’ve done something. And yeah, today I have that absolute confidence in me to convince, pitch and interact with anyone. And from all these things, I’ve learnt that success doesn’t matters, (obviously it is) but not always, all you have to do is give it a try full of effort, give your level best in it, and if you does so, then even god can not stop us from being succeeded. You just have to maintain that level of faith in yourself and you’ll surely see that it’s done.

It was a complete fun, and hope the same for the rest one month too. Won’t forget the first work experience in my life ever .

Thanks would be a small word, but still Hat’s off to Nurture Talent Academy for the awesome experience and training which they are showering on us.

Cheers to the team.

Nurture Talent Academy

It has been one month in Nurture talent academy and every day was a lesson in which we learnt new practical things. I was the first intern to join the NTA, during my first week of internship all my seniors made so comfortable that I didn’t felt it’s my first working experience with them. When all interns joined NTA we were asked to prepare for the next event which was TECHUNT JUNIOR and we talked to around 60 parents and students over phone daily. During this Time we learned how to talk to different persons, how to convince them to come for the event, answering their weird questions and many more things. We were given daily targets which we always try to achieve and this helped us to learn that setting targets and achieving them makes us happy so we should always have targets in life and we must always try to achieve to be happy in life. There was a point when I was totally disappoint when there was no registration for the camp from my side but my NTA seniors and Amit Sir  encouraged me  that this is the fact of life. One day U may achieve everything but another day u may not so keep working hard no matter what happens.

At the end of the month we had a successful camp at IIT  Delhi, we met parents and students to whom we talked  over phone. The camp at IIT Delhi was great experience to learn and also we had fun there.

Here we just not work all the time we also spend quality time here with our seniors and we interns also share a good time with each other. We don’t have so much work load here and the environment is so light and polite. It’s a great experience working here with NTA. J

Thanks and regards,

Nupur Gupta is pursuing bachelor’s degree in Economics Honors from Hansraj college. She is interested in learning new and different things in all the fields of organization.

When Aakanksha came to SRCC for recruiting Interns for Nurture Talent,  She cleared then and there  that this internship is all about Working with Dedication, Working with Passion, and Working for exploring Customer behavior and Market research.

And indeed she was right. One can learn a lot from the way Amit Sir, Ishank Sir, Meera  Mam,  Jayant,   Saanya and Aakanksha work for NTA. As said the work environment matters a lot. And the work environment at NTA can easily make you forget all your work pressure and stress ( with those stickers of HAPPY smiley pasted everywhere in the office :D  )

For me, The best part of this internship was not the technical things that I have learnt, But the experience that I have gained.  Amit Sir’s passion about entrepreneurship and Ishank Sir’s passion about doing something different is really inspiring ( l can never  forget the line that I read about Ishank sir on NTA’s website : “He loves selling whether its ideas or tomatoes or anything else”. This one sentence is more than enough to know how dedicated he is.

Whenever I felt that I am not performing well, Jayant and Aakanksha were always there with their different tricks to help me. They were always prepared with solutions to all my queries and problems. Saanya mam is more a friend to me. Her jolly and enthusiastic  behavior always kept me cheerful (we will miss you mam) . Meera mam has always been a support. I wish I’ll meet her soon.

As far as my co-interns are concerned, they are fun to have around. Nupur, the senior most here is probably the most bachchi here :p , Shreshtha has always been my helping hand ( Thanks for bringing lunch for me ) , Sushant, the engineer and analyst  always makes  us laugh, Shivani and Shiva, its been great working with you people and last but not the least, Varan, looking forward to work with you.

The Opportunity cost of joining this internship was very high for me as I had to stay away from my family in these vacations but i have got a new family here : THE NTA FAMILY.  I will always cherish these moments,  Its one of the best time of my life.

July 01, 2013

Today we almost complete a month of our internship. So we are one month old member of NTA. During this internship, we learnt lot of things. And now we are in that position that whoever comes our way, we can talk to them, convince them, pitch them.

The relation is only one month old but there is a feeling that from the very beginning we know NTA and their people. Human resource is the biggest asset of any company, and so is the people here make NTA a successful cherish company. Now, NTA is like a second home for me, spending 9 hours of the day that too with a smile on the face.

There is sense of commitment towards the customers we’re serving. The Techunt Junior Innovation Summer camp, truly a success.

NTA fills us with confidence and yes it develop the “I CAN” attitude. The Sandeep Maheshwari seminar they recommend us to watch was awesome. The Motivational speech by Ishank Sir, inspires us to that extent that we even cross our targets. Constant support by Aakanksha and Jayant. The wonderful company of all the co-interns. And ofcourse the positive behaviour of Amit Sir.

So, finally we have learnt uptill now that the world is full of targets,so do your best to meet it. Sales is like everything, at every point of time you have to sell something, whether its product, service or yourself for the job but always be honest, be yourself.

I would like to thanks NTA for giving me a  look into the professional world and positive approach towards the goal we set.

First internship, first experience and its truly awesome…

Hello! Myself VARAN BERIWAL,an intern at NURTURE TALENT ACADEMY.Talking about my experience at NTA is worth remembering, it being my first experience as an intern.I had a lot many  things to learn within a weeks time and this includes the art of negotiations, entrepreneurism, web related applications such as CRM-salesforce.There is wide variety of activities I was supposed to do and also I had much to learn from my colleagues and peers regarding workshops, networking and public speaking.

I attended the SARTUP yatra inauguration day where I met people from all walks of life giving me an opportunity for networking and learning new things about marketing, android gaming.I was also informed about the great  success of TECHUNT JUNIOR 2013,meant for school children held at IIT Delhi.

I was also engaged with the inviting entrepreneurs for INVESTOR yatra,a platform for learning business planning, financial planning, term sheets and art of pitching from expert mentors who are incubators, accelerators giving live pitches.

I was also busy with convincing member colleges of COMPUTER SOCIETY OF INDIA to host TECHUNT,a five in one unique workshop jointly held by NTA and CSI. I missed the opportunity of visiting IIT Delhi during Techunt  Junior. But I am sure there is much more to come.

I am looking forward to many more opportunities that NTA would be able to provide me.I felt that the work environment is equivalently good giving us the opportunity to interact, enjoy at times and most importantly learn.Overall my experience was satisfactorily good and upto my expectations.

NURTURE TALENT ACADEMY

Hi,

It’s been my one month at NTA and it seems like just a few weeks.. The best thing about NTA is that every day a new challenge waits for us and we were very well mentored to face them with all the required information and resources. I got to learn a lot about working on new software like “SALESFORCE”, which provided me with the insight of CRM. I also like the nice working environment and learnt lots of practical aspects of an organisation which I wouldn’t be able to do if I hadn’t joined NTA.

Also working in NTA made me very responsible and gave me the confidence that I am not that bad at marketing than what I have the perception about myself. It also made me comfortable with the speaking skills and communication. The target setting activity really helped me to test my potential.

Especially “TECHUNT JUNIOR” gave me a lot exposure as I talked to the parents of students of around 25 schools, which upgraded my convincing power. Also I was able to observe from a very close end how the principles of Management are applied in an organisation which made my concepts more crisp and sharp.

And last but not the least I am very happy to have a great team here, such a great and understanding team which aims at achieving group goals rather than individual goals. J

Thank You,

Shreshtha Gupta

Shreshtha Gupta is an undergraduate student of B.Com (H) from Shri Ram College Of Commerce , Delhi University.  She is interested in learning the aspects about the working of an enterprise and honing her Principles Of Management.

My Experience at Nurture Talent Academy

Since my exams got over I was looking for an internship where I can upgrade my skills and sharpen my acumen. My search culminated when I got an interview call from Nurture Talent. When I look back to that day, I realize that joining Nurture Talent has been a good decision. My experience with Nurture Talent so far has been a voyage of immense learning and joyous work. I am filled with greater self belief and confidence and I can interact with anyone without hesitation. I also got an opportunity to work as a Project Coordinator for Techunt Junior event. It was a very nice experience because I learnt how to manage an event and other aspects related to it. My learning experience was further enriched with daily lunch conversations our team had with Amit Sir and Ishank Sir. The conversations centered around topics ranging from latest business developments to how as a student we can stride into the world of entrepreneurship. I do not think that I would have learnt so much had I not joined Nurture Talent. When one sees from within how Nurture Talent functions, one can only appreciate the dedication and perseverant attitude of everyone here. One can draw inspiration from their determination. Nurture Talent is like a helping hand for young entrepreneurs. It helps us realize how satisfying it is to help someone and then see him grow. Since  the day I have been associated with Nurture Talent, my confidence and self belief has grown on a daily basis. I feel inspired to venture into the field of entrepreneurship. Besides this I have also learnt about the latest mobile and web technologies that are used around the world. I also came across the work that is being done by societies like CSI, which further increased my knowledge about the technology environment. Nurture Talent has also helped me imbibe the’ Art of Persuasion’ and helped me familiarize myself with the world of branding and marketing. I have also learnt how the combined efforts can help us reach targets. Working here I have realized the potential of team efforts. Nurture Talent also introduced me to ‘corporate culture’ and the mantras to succeed in the business environment. The business ecosystem is large, but if one has good mentors one can surely excel. It is here that I learnt about the diversity that exists in the business world and how one needs to adapt constantly to the changing scenarios. I gained immensely from the knowledge of Amit Sir who has been working in this field for several years now. Amit Sir and Ishank Sir have helped us at each step we have taken in the work that was assigned to us. Their inputs have not only helped me to complete our work with precision but also inspired me to do whatever work has been assigned to me with extra dedication and greater efforts. Working at Nurture Talent I have developed ‘I CAN’ attitude. Nurture Talent has given me enough confidence that now I can work towards my dreams and excel in them. I hope Nurture Talent continues to do such amazing work.
